Evaluating Peer Reviews

Summary- From the 9 peer reviews I received most of the key criticisms was the overly loud music at the beginning and end as well as adding more transitions and cuts and using more effects. While I was reading them I would go back and play the video and I had to agree with the loud music I plan to lower the volume. What specific elements of the film opening did you like? Was there anything that left you confused? (be specific) What suggestions do you have for changes? I like that the plot was very clear N/A I suggest that you shorten the jump-roping and boxing clips, I felt that they were a little too long. Maybe add one or two other exercises. I like the music, it fits well. no none I loved the intensity of the background music from the get-go. This really demonstrated the main character's intensity, and the drama of the upcoming fight. I wasn't conf...

Editing week 2

Image
titles and fonts- in one of the pictures above is shown the title that I ended up going for. in the end I decided to use the fight preparation for the font I've been debating whether using the one in the picture or something more sharp and angular. Video effects- in the beginning of the film where the title is shown I decided to make it so it travels and moves downwards to the corner of the screen. video transitions- for transitions i have decided to use wipe dissolve and fade and I'm also debating on whether to use some more exciting ones audio affects- for audio I ended up using a song that just screams action exercise and hard work after my long search I really like the audio I chose problems- during editing my more serious problem I've encountered is making cuts without making my film too short solution- for solutions I have decided that if my film does get too short I can just film more time spent editing- for editing I spend about 30 minutes a day \people involved- ...

Editing week 1

Image
Since I'm doing this alone I am editing myself I decided to edit on my phone as it would be easier to edit (I'm editing on iMovie) Titles and fonts- in my editing app I have been looking at the different types of fonts available as well as the title I should use for my film opening, for my titles I'm thinking about something that establishes what the movie is about. So far I have "the fight: preparation" or "fight on" or maybe even "rising up" personally I'm leaning more on the fight preparation. Video effects used I'm thinking about including an effect that also represents action packed exercise since my main theme is a girl preparing for a fight I'm thinking about using strong colors like red or neon ones Video transitions - in my picture above I made sure to take a picture of my editing film in the middle of a transition, the transition shown is slide. I'm planning to use different transitions like dissolve or a fading one. ...

Filming week 2

Image
In the 2nd week of filming I wanted to bring some positions or clips that would make sure to bring suspense to my film opener in order to make it more exciting. I wanted to make sure I got the right one so I went over many clips that could do that. With this picture I think it will do what I want it to do it will make the audience wonder and want to watch more I plan to put it at the end of the film in order to make a type of cliffhanger.

Beginning to Film week 1

Image
This week I decided to begin filming. I knew that the first thing to do is decide on locations. With the pandemic I knew it was going to be hard to choose good locations while also being safe. I tried to drive around and look for safe areas preferably outside and somewhere I could distance easily. Unfortunately I couldn't find a location like that so at the end I decided that I should film in my patio, as it would be easier since I'm working alone and the location is in my house. I decided on the patio because its outside and I thought it could help get my message across that my film was all about exercise, I also thought I could take advantage of the natural light instead of worrying about it.  I also tried to maybe look into filming at a park but I didn't want to keep driving to the same park since filming was probably going to take a few days and its not likely I'll finish in one day.

Preparing to Film

actors- Since I'm working alone Its going to be hard to film just but myself although I am determined to succeed in this, even though working alone is harder I don't have anyone in my group that can cause more trouble as well as slowing me down, because of this my actors will probably be me my siblings or some of my friends. costumes- since my plan for my film is to be mostly exercise based as well as fitness based for costumes and outfits I'm planning them to consist of workout clothing like sporty shorts or leggings as well as maybe a sports bra or a loose comfortable shirt for shoes I would make sure to use some Nike lightweight running shoes since they really get the message across that what's happening is exercise   props- For props I would make sure to include the workout items I plan to use my jump rope as well as my punching bag although those are items I would like to use I'm still thinking about including a few more items that I would use locations- Becaus...

Movie Opener Brainstorming & Research

Rise- Film Opening- the first thing I noticed when watching this video was something I really liked it was when he put on his headphones and the music he was listening to was then the music the audience was listening to. I also liked the fact that he put all his stuff down and it gave a close up of each item in my opinion this created suspense and I felt like something was going to happen. The time when 2 different songs are both playing at the same time is also something I observed. I also personally liked the transition from the soccer ball to the other dude. When he takes his headphones off the music stops and I liked that. At the end of the film I liked the real close ups of each of the actors faces it made me feel like I needed to watch whatever was going to come after. Offline- Observations- I really liked how it started off by typing. This film right off the bat gave a creepy vibe especially with the girl in the cage. I liked how they went between the girl in the cage and t...

Film Viewing Practice Essay "Agent Carter"

In the five minute clip of agent carter, many aspects of film are used, such as sound, angles and shots, editing, and mise-en-scene.      I watched this clip a total of four times in order to focus on one film aspect each time, on the first time I watched I focused on sound. I noticed that in the first few second post-synchronized dubbing is used. In the first few seconds I heard two characters talking, their conversation played over the famous scene of all the Marvel characters that they use for all its intros. The next thing I noticed sound wise was Diegetic sound this is also shown in the opening scene, precisely, when the alarm goes off at the office and the man answers the phone to listen to the emergency recording. After this I noticed Nondiegetic sound was also added when the businessmen were walking up the stairs. During this scene, I could hear the music but on the other hand the characters couldn’t. Direct sound is when Agent Carter fights off all o...

Semester Exam - Film Opening Analysis of Black Mirror (season3, episode 4, San Junipero)

As I watched the first 5 minutes of Black Mirror season 3 episode 4 I began to notice things that gave a better idea of the characters. The first scene opens with a night scene of the ocean splashing against the shore with a city behind it. this particular scene gives a calm and serene feeling but the fact that it was nighttime it gave me a feeling of foreshadowing that’s something bad was going to happen. After this opening scene it shows a busy loud street full of people having fun, this gives a mood of happiness, and laid back. This is also the scene where Yorkie is first seen and introduced. The first things I noticed about Yorkie was her outfit, her outfit was light in colors and consisted of a striped shirt that appeared to pastel green as well as khaki shorts. It also shows her face which gives off facial expressions that give the viewers the idea that she is quiet, reserved, and shy. The camera seems to be following along with her from the side, showing the side of her bo...

MISE-EN-SCENE

I decided to do my MISE-EN-SCENE on the Korean drama Strong Girl Bong-Soon. i chose this tv show because unlike many shows that follow the usual story line, it has a good plot that the episodes follow throughout the season and it never sidetracks from the main plot. Also including the fact that I enjoyed the show so much that I watched it many times, and it takes hooks the viewer aka me. The first scene the show opens with is with the main male character in a flashback when he was on a bus. In this flashback the bus is about to crash but it show how he looks out the back window and sees a girl in a pink hoodie who stopped the bus from crashing he considered her to be an angel sent from above. This particular scene is taken in a shallow space focusing on the event of the bus suddenly stopping right before it's about to crash and the guys reaction. The shallow space helped move the story along by creating a center point for the future through the show. The next few scenes after this ...

Avatar the Last Airbender this video shows contrast because Zuko is mad and enraged but his uncle is cool as a cucumber there is a difference in their emotions in this scene Zuko wants to go find Aang because he saw a big light beam only the avatar could do his uncle is laid back and tries to convince Zuko that its probably not him Zuko starts getting annoyed because he's not being supported there are a lot of examples of simultaneity in this scene general Iroh is playing a game you can here the wind in the background and it shifts to Katara and her brother finding aang the sound of the wind never stops This shows parallelism because it goes over time Katara is the narrator and she shifts from 100 years ago to 2 years ago when her father left it skips over time which is a type of example they used in the video last week
